day four, Salzburg campsite and rest day

The drive from Shillersdorf to Salzburg was hot, with roadworks on the motorway slowing things down. Occasionally I would pull off and do a loop on rural and mountainous roads for variety with the windows down.

To avoid burning in the sun we put up with the roof up and the heat of the sun to avoid sunburn 😅 but once we got to the outskirts of Salzburg the roof came down.

The ground was very hard for tent pegs, borrowed a hammer from the site manager, but it took a beer while scratching our heads to make it go up easier.

The open air pool on this municipal site was really good and I am sure we just sizzled when we got into the water.

We had a burger and chips on the site for supper and it avoided a bit of faffing cooking.

Beer and wine flowed well and we chatted to a couple from Hull and a couple from Overijsell until the sky were dramatically lit up by a lightening storm over the mountains.
